Hi Foodies, Today I am going to share a yummy Crab Coconut curry. This is my favorite Amma/Mom special curry in kerala cuisine. I have been eating this curry since I am a child, because I am the crazy fan of that awesome dish from my child hood itself. There are so many ways in which you can cook crab, like with coconut or without coconut etc. But this is a very simple curry with coconut, and its mild spicy. If you have not tasted crab curry like this, then dont be late, believe me it is genuinely a yummy curry. Normally my Amma cooks crab without coconut that taste also really good, but that is more spicy. This time I choosed coconut crab curry, because I cooked for my kids. How to Make Kerala style Crab Curry With Coconut- Thenga Aracha Njandu Curry
Clean the crabs, wash it with plenty of water and allow it to drain. Then cut them into pieces and keep it aside.
In a belnder add grated coconut, 2 piece shallots, pepper corns, fenugreek seeds, kashmiri chilly powder, corriander powder, turmeric powder, little water and grind it very well to form a smooth paste. Keep it aside.
Heat coconut oil in a deep bottom frying pan, add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Then add dry red chillies and curry leaves.
Now add chopped ginger garlic, and saute it for couple of mins.
Add in shallots and fry it till it turns soft and translucent.
Now add tomato and saute for about 1 mins. when tomato turns soft add green chillies and combine well.
Now add in the tamarind pulp and combine well.
Add the prepared grounded coconut paste, salt and required water.
Mix well until everything combined. And now add the cleaned crab and mix well.
Cover and cook until crab is done and the gravy thickness. It may take around 10- 15 mins in a medium low flame. Switch off the flame and rest it for 10 mins. Serve it along with rice.
