Pulissery or moru curry is a very simple yogurt based curry, served with rice. In Pineapple Pulissery, pineapple pieces are cooked with chilly powder, turmeric powder till soft and add rich coconut paste along with yogurt and finally served with seasoning on top. Its a very popular sweet and sour dish from Kerala. In sadya menu, this is one of the highlight dish. The main attraction is its a very simple dish, actually not need much time for preparing. Pulissery can be prepared with both fruits and vegetables like mango, pineapple, ripe banana, pappaya, cucumber etc. So lets see this easy recipe with step by step cooking pictures.
It can be served with rice along with spicy fish curry or any stir fry. For this pulissery I am using pineapple, If you want you can use ripe mangoes also.
How to Make Pineapple Pulissery- Kerala Style Pineapple in Yogurt Gravy
Clean and cut pineapple into cube pieces. Cook pineapple pieces along with three green chillies, chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt, until it turn tender.
Meanwhile grind coconut along with cumin seeds and one green chilly, ground it to a very fine paste by adding very little water.
Add this grounded paste to the cooked pineapples and combine well. Allow it to boil in a low flame until coconut pasteraw smell goes on.
The coconut paste should cook for around 3-4 minutes. Now add whisked yogurt and switch off the flame.Adjust salt at this level.
Heat oil in a dry pan and add mustard seeds, allow it to splutter. Then add fenugreek seeds, red chillies and curry leaves. Saute it for a second and transfter the seasoning to the pineapple pulissery. Serve along with rice.
