Hi again Foodies, Today I am sharing you with a wonderful authentic Indo- Chinese recipe, Chilli Prawns. This is a very simple recipe of prawns/ shrimp. It is a tangy chinese recipe. I maked this recipe for a side dish for egg fried rice, so have maked in gravy style. This recipe can also prepared in dry version, which can be used as starters. This is the recipe I developed to satisfy my hubby and kids craving towards Chinese recipes. So lets learn how to make Chilli Prawns by following this easy recipe with step by step cooking pictures and step wise instructions.
How to Make Chilli Prawns-Indo-Chinese Style Prawns in Chilli Gravy
Clean prawns, de-shelled and de-veined it, wash well in running water. Marinate prawns with ginger paste, pepper powder, 1tsp soya sauce, green chilly sauce, egg white and salt. Mix well and keep it in refrigerator for 15 minutes. Then add plain flour/ maida and cornflour and combine well.
Deep fry the marinated prawns in hot oil for 2 minutes. Fry it slightly only, dont over fry the prawns it turn rubbery.
Heat 2 tbsp of sesame oil in a deep bottom sauce pan. Add chopped garlic and saute it for a minute, then add chopped onion combine well and add green chillies. Saute it for 1 minute.Do not over cook onions.
Now add in tomato sauce, red chilly sauce and remaining soya sauce. combine well.
Then add in red chilly paste and oyster sauce, mix well. Pour fish stock ( for making fish stock add 2 fish cubes in 2 cup of water and dilute it ) and allow it to boil.
Add the fried prawns and mix well, until the chilly sauce is well coated on the prawns.
Add vinegar and sugar, mix well. Then garnish it with spring onions. Serve along with rice of your choice.
