Kerala Duck Curry- Nadan Tharavu Curry is a spicy, tangy curry with the flavour of coconut milk. The recipe with step by step cooking pictures follows
Duck is a staple in the backwaters in the Indian state of Kerala. Duck Curry/Tharavu Curry is very popular authentic recipe in Kerala, especially South India. Actually I have got this recipe from a excellent houseboat trip, in Kerala backwaters, Vembanad. We had a pleasure of having a day trip on a houseboat on the backwaters of Kerala few months ago. The houseboat crew conducted a very good Kerala meal for us, with karimeen fry, Duck Curry, kappa/tapioca and fish. Today I am posting the recipe of duck curry, the recipe which I got from houseboat. I have made some changes of my own.
This curry goes well with rice or tapioca/ Kappa. This spice rich duck curry have different variations in style of making. In Kerala especially Kuttanadu it is made with the skin. I prepared this duck curry as our Christmas dish along with palappam.
