  1. hi
really nice preparation steps.. im a vegetarian but i still liked these masala mix..
instead of chicken what can i use? soya? potato?
    thanks for t post

    1. Thank u Vaishak… You can use potato or soya….its fine. U can cook fish also in the same way, for souring agent instead of tomatoes add tamarind pulp.

  2. This is only for Keralites or for people who are accustomed to eat the preparations made by coconut oil can’t we prepare the same thing with cooking oils like sunflower oil, groundnutoil, etc. ?

    1. Thank you for your query… Actually this is an authentic traditional recipe of Kerala. In this recipe coconut oil is commonly used, but you can substitute with any cooking oil or refined only. But for the authentic taste should use coconut oil.

    1. I have used a country chicken … so I have used a pressure cooker, 2 whistle in pressure cooker. If you are using a broiler chicken dont use a cooker , cook in sauce pan with a lid, a broiler chicken need 20- 25 minutes only to cook.

  3. If I am using broiler chicken do i i add the chicken before adding the ground coconut paste or after?

    1. If you are using broiler chicken….. after adding the ground coconut paste, saute well..then add the chicken pieces and cook for 20 minutes in medium flame…

    1. I have used homemade garam masala powder made of cloves, cardamom, cinnamon stick, fennel seeds, star anise and mice.
I have dry roasted all these ingredients and ground to fine powder, then stored in air tight container.

    1. If it is nadan kozhi( country chicken)… You should cook in pressure cooker… Normal broiler chicken can cook normally.. because it will cook really fast.
