Pacha Manga Pachadi Recipe- Kerala Style Raw Mango in Coconut Yogurt Gravy, is a Kerala traditional curry with slightly sweet and sour gravy. The recipe with step by step cooking pictures follows.

Pacha Manga Pachadi

Pachadi can be prepared with both raw or ripen fruits. Here today I am sharing a recipe with raw mangoes. Pachadi is one of the simple recipe I first learnt to cook from my grand mother. This is served in Kerala sadya as a side dish, especially onam sadya. It is a perfect side dish for rice.

Pacha Manga Pachadi- Kichadi

In the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, pachadi is eaten fresh and typically made of finely chopped and boiled vegetables or fruits with coconut, green chilies and yogurt, then tempered in oil with mustard seeds, dry red chillies and curry leaves. Malayali pachadi is a famous South Indian side dish served even on International platters.

How to Make Pacha Manga Pachadi Recipe- Kerala Style Raw Mango in Coconut Yogurt Gravy

Clean and chop green mango and soak in warm water along with salt for 1 hour before cooking, drain out from water and keep it aside. ( it helps to reduce the sourness of raw mango)

Chop shallots, ginger and green chillies. Keep it aside.

Grind coconut along with a pinch of mustard seeds to a fine smooth paste and keep it aside.

Heat one tbsp of oil in a frying pan, add shallots, ginger and green chillies. Saute for 2- 3 minutes in a medium heat, allow shallots to turn slightly brown.

Add chopped mango, saute and cook by adding 1/4 cup water and salt. Cook until mango turn soft.

Now add in ground coconut paste and combine well and cook for 3 minutes and turn off the flame.

Now add beaten curd and combine well, transfer this to a serving bowl and keep it aside.

Now with remaining 1 tsp oil do the tempering, in a frying pan  pour oil, add mustard seeds allow it to splutter and add dry red chillies and curry leaves. Transfer this to the curry and give it a quick stir.
