It is usually served as an accompaniment to rice. Pulissery can be made with a variety of veggies/ fruits like pineapple, ladies finger, cucumber etc. It is a traditional Kerala dish served along with Onam sadya. Traditionally ripe small mangoes known as nattu manga, a special variety of mango having a unique smell and taste are added to mambazha pulissery after removing the skin. So I have used that to get the authentic taste of the curry.
Ripe small mangoes are cooked along with salt and green chilies, which makes the curry so tasty. It tastes more like mor kootan or mor kuzhambu except for being a little sweet. Mango season is here, follow this easy recipe of mambazha pulissery to make it at home in less than 20 minutes.
