Pressure Cooker Chicken Biryani- One pot Biryani- Chicken Biryani Ramzan Special

Biryani is a rice based dish made with basmati rice, meat and spices. Easy chicken biryani in a pressure cooker that tastes delicious, flavorful and can be made in a jiffy. Biryani is one of my favorite foods, I can eat biryani everyday especially the one that my Amma makes. My Amma is really an expert in making pressure cooker version of biryani. And I love following her recipe as it turns out perfect and yummy each time. Today I am posting here my Amma/ mom recipe for quick and easy chicken biryani using pressure cooker. The detailed recipe with step by step cooking pictures follows.

Pressure Cooker Biryani- One pot Biryani

This is an easy and quick one pot meal and the beauty of this recipe is that you only need the pressure cooker to make this biryani. I usually prefer simple and one pot recipes on weekend and I very rarely make layered biryani. But making biryani is not a very easy job, a very lengthy process. When you do not have much time but carving for biryani, try this one. As broiler chicken does not take more time to cook, this whole cooking process takes less than 35 minutes. Here I used curd and water for cooking rice and meat, if you want you can replace it with very thin coconut milk too. Coconut milk will enhance the taste and flavor, but use only thin coconut milk, otherwise a chance of curdling. The main thing you should keep in mind that to buy a good quality rice, here I made with ‘India gate’ basmati rice. You can also buy any good quality branded rice for making pressure cooker biryani.

One- pot Biryani- Pressure Cooker Biryani

Tips- Use only quality rice, I recommend India gate, kohinoor or dhawaat long grain basmati rice. Check the salt in water before adding the rice, the water should be salty. For 1 cup rice I used 1 and 1/2 cups water. Use the same cup for measuring both rice and water. Once you hear the first whistle switch off the heat, wait for 5 minutes and slowly release the pressure by slightly lifting the weight. Once all the pressure is gone open the cooker and transfer the biryani into a wide pan and fluff up gently and allow it to cool down.
