Cheese flan Recipe- Cream Cheese Flan Topped with Caramel Sauce

Cheese flan, is my family’s all time favorite dessert. Although it looks and stands like the usual flan, it sticks to the spoon when scooped and is creamy in texture. The decadent rich taste is simply more indulgent than usual. This smooth cheese flan topped with a golden caramel is an elegant dessert that can be baked or steamed and serve warm or chilled. Flan with cream cheese is a popular filipino dessert. This version uses spread cheese or cream cheese. The cheese flan is rich and extra creamy than the ordinary flan. Although I prepare mine using a blender, you can cut through the steps by simply processing the eggs, milk, cheese, condensed milk, sugar and cinnamon powder in a food processor or electric mixer. If you like cheese cake you will love this. No oven required for this sweet and creamy cheese flan topped with caramel sauce. It simmers its way to lusciousness on the stove top. It is a simple formula of just a few ingredients, but they combine to form a flavorful masterpiece. The beautiful amber sauce gives the dish a striking presentation. There is nothing as luscious as a smooth cheese flan.

Tips- Although flan is usually served chilled, this take on the classic dessert gets its delicate texture from cream cheese, and is best when eaten warm or at room temperature.

How to Make Cheese flan Recipe- Cream Cheese Flan Topped with Caramel Sauce

Cook 5 tbsp sugar and little water in saucepan on medium heat around 10 minutes or until mixture is golden and syrup like consistency. Carefully swirling the pan every few minutes. Now add lemon juice and off the flame, donot allow syrup to turn too dark, then it will taste bitter.

Immediately pour caramel syrup in pudding plate and set aside.


In a blender, blend eggs and cream cheese until smooth.

Then pour in milk, 2 tbsp sugar, cinnamon powder and condensed milk. Blend until everything turn smooth.

Keep the cooking plate on preheated steamer and pour the batter over the syrup in plate, cover with foil and cook in a medium flame for 60 mins.


Insert a knife in center of flan comes out clean, then off the flame and allow it to cool down.

Unmould flan onto serving plate and serve warm.
