The strong, sweet, creamy, silky and masala spiced tea has long been a favorite of my home. Biriyani tea is something hot spiced tea is served in layers, a sweetened condensed milk layer on the bottom, then strong masala spiced black tea and a layer of thick milk on top. Stir well and drink hot. It is one of the favorite drinks among all Indian especially during the monsoon and cold winters. It keeps the body warm and best for cold and sour throat. My family like to have it along with their breakfast. There are many versions of this tea. For a quick version of Indian Biriyani tea, all we need is 4 basic spices that is green cardamom, cinnamon stick, cloves and star anise. If you want you can use a small piece of ginger and few peppercorns. The warmth of spices in this piping hot sweet beverage is a hit with people across the country and everybody has their own special tea masala recipe. This is the quick and basic tea recipe, they are few variations and people add extra things too, but for the start I thought of sharing this wonderful family recipe with you all where all the ingredients are easily available and everyone at my home like tea made with this simple spices.
Tips- To make Instant masala tea, take whole spices, slightly dry roast and ground to a fine powder and store, so you will always have it ready for that fast and easy cup of tea. The spice powder can be stored for several weeks in a dark cupboard in an airtight container. A mason jar with a tight lid would be perfect for storing.
How to Make Biriyani Tea- Masala Tea- Quick Indian Masala Chai
Boil the milk until piping hot and set aside.
Add water to a sauce pan and allow it to boil. Once it starts boiling add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick and star anise. Allow to boil for 45 seconds.
Add the tea leaves and continue boiling until the tea is dark and strong.
Take tea cups and pour 2 and 1/2 tsp of condensed milk in each of the serving cups.
Pour the strained black tea over the condensed milk very slowly.
Pour the milk over the black tea and mix well with a spoon. No need of adding sugar, due to adding of condensed milk. Serve hot along with tea biscuits.
