What’s more refreshing than drinking a chilled mango sharbat on a hot summer’s day? It’s fruity, minty, refreshing drink for a summer party too. The mix of fresh mango pulp, lemon juice make this the ultimate cooler to beat the heat. Summer being at its peak, today my attempt is to make a summer cooler drink with very ripe mango, lemon juice and sabja seeds/ basil seeds. And now a days I keep on searching for cooler recipes. Mango Sharbat for Summer

Sabja seeds/ basil seeds are fun to eat, and they are very healthy. For those reasons, basil seed drinks have been becoming very famous. Sabja seeds are basically sweet basil seeds that have a nice crunchy texture. These healthy seeds are from maruwa or rudra jada plant of the tulsi family. I wanted to make a refreshing flavor combination using simple ingredients, preferably ones I already had on hand. So I decided to use mango, lemon juice and basil seeds. I think it made a wonderful combination too.

Mango Lemonade Recipe

Tips- Juice made from fresh mangoes has very refreshing taste. You can increase or decrease the quantity of water in the recipe according to your taste. So to make good mango flavored sharbat, keep it little thick, but not like milkshake or smoothie. With this same recipe you can substitute mango with any seasonal fruits you want.  Adjust sweetness accordingly, here I have used less sugar due to my mangoes was too sweet.

How to Make Mango Sharbat- Ripe Mango Lemonade Recipe- Mango Sharbat for Summer

wash and clean the sabja seeds. In a bowl, pour 1/4 cup luke warm water and soak the washed and drained sabja seeds. Keep it rest for 15 minutes, when the seeds are transparent jelly like coating over the seed, they are ready for use.

Wash the mangoes to remove dirt, then peel the ripe magoes, cut the peeled mangoes into small pieces. Put them in a blender.

Then add in sugar/honey, lemon juice and blend until smooth.

Run the blended mixture through a sieve and pour into a tall jug. Then pour 3 glasses of very chilled water and combine well.

Check sugar, add according to your sweetness.

Take glasses and add soaked sabja seeds in each glasses. Then pour mango juice and mix well using a spoon.

Garnish with mint leaves and serve chilled.
